In an uncertain economic landscape, Romanian companies, as well as individual consumers, are more and more oriented towards reducing expenses in 2024, having a more sustainable and financially efficient approach to office design. Thus, the second-hand office furniture market is experiencing the greatest momentum this year, with an estimated 20% increase in demand compared to last year, according to Princemob Buro, one of the main suppliers of second-hand office furniture.
By using second-hand furniture, companies and consumers can reduce expenses by 2-3 times compared to purchasing new furniture.
"All our data show us that the demand is growing, even if most analysts are skeptical about an upward trend on the economic side in the year in which we stepped. In this context, companies will focus on reducing expenses, with second-hand office furniture being preferred. Overall, we are experiencing an unprecedented momentum, especially as companies are turning their attention to options that bring double benefits: substantial savings and ecological responsibility", says George Udriște, CEO of Princemob Buro.
Thus, according to Princemob Buro, an increase in demand for second-hand furniture from the medical and automotive fields is estimated. Next, businesses from agriculture, courier, trade, but also IT, will be the most interested in second-hand office furniture. At the same time, there will also be an increase in interest from individual consumers, especially for financial reasons.
"Although Romanians still have some reluctance to the idea of second-hand furniture, we observe an increase in demand for desks and office chairs for the home in the second half of 2023, a trend that will continue in 2024. Most of our customers purchase the furniture second-hand marketed by us due to the quality-price ratio. All SH products sold go through an extensive sanitizing and cleaning process. We are obliged by law to apply a disinfection procedure and another disinfection procedure directly in Germany, from where we import the furniture, for all products containing textile materials, and then before being sold they go through another process of checking the functionalities, lubrication, cleaning, washing and vacuuming where appropriate, with professional German solutions", explains George Udriște, CEO of Princemob Buro.
At the same time, the second-hand furniture market will become increasingly important in the circular economy, helping to protect the environment. In fact, Romania adopted the Action Plan for the Circular Economy in October last year, a plan that includes 52 actions in the short, medium and long term. At the same time, Princemob Buro contributes to reducing pollution and protecting the environment both by selling second-hand furniture that favors reducing waste and educating the market, but also by the only campaign to plant a tree for every office sold.
